The great family of crepe fabrics

Elegant, structured... what is the Crepe fabric actually?

Well, it's not a material. Behind the word Crepe lies what we nicely call a large family of materials. Fabrics with a dry touch, slightly textured, known and recognized for their elegance and their nice hold.

OUR CREPE FABRICS

On en.tessuti.fr, find this great family of fabrics composed of Crepe Georgette, Crepe de chine, Crepe envers satin or simple Crepe...

  • Crepe Georgette
    • Similar to muslin but heavier, this durable fabric has a matte, grainy surface.
    • Often used to make Indian saris, Crepe Georgette is a tear-resistant material that holds the embroidery well. Its secret? Its unique weaving structure.
  • Crepe from China
    • The Crepe de Chine is a fabric with a slightly shiny texture that is very popular for evening wear but also for sleek work silhouettes.
    • For the record, Crepe from China was the preferred material of the Chinese imperial family in the Middle Ages.
  • Crepe to satin
    • The most refined of the double sided, the Crepe reverse side satin has a slightly silky aspect on the front and a crêpe texture on the back.

    • This fabric has a fluid drape due to its specific weave structure: a satin weave with strongly twisted threads in the weft and more loosely twisted threads in the warp.

  • Simple Crepe
    • Stretchy, with a gummy feel... the simple Crepe is a must-havefor its simplicity. Ideal for successful fall outfits.
    • Available on your online fabric shop in a responsible and sustainable version, made of recycled polyester filaments. The best, right?
