The inspirations

Do you know the "dark academia" style? It's a new and inspiring fashion trend. A style, driven by a passion for literature and knowledge, that invites you to sew outfits with a nostalgic and British spirit.

Ideal for sewing warm and strong fabrics, this trend first leads us to refer to two iconic Houses: Ralph Lauren and Alexander McQueen.

FASHION HOUSES

Indeed, we can't talk about great names in British-inspired fashion without talking about Alexander McQueen. Artistic director for Givenchy, then for himself, he receives many accolades for his visionary genius that combines "sabotage and tradition", such as the International Award of the Council of American Fashion Designers.

In 1995, his "Highland Rape" show sparked controversy; inspired by his Scottish origins, he denounced England's oppression of Scotland through creations of a punk-excentric tone. Tartan fabrics and black lace make up dresses with a deconstructed traditional spirit. Throughout his career, he will use powerful and iconic patterns revolutionizing the luxury industry; he will forever inspire fashion with his challenging silhouettes.

Alexander McQueen - "The world needs fantasy, not reality. We have enough reality.

Ralph Lauren, American fashion house, is known for its style dressing men and women in an elegant way. With its Anglo-Saxon inspirations and its use of fabrics with checks or Prince of Wales patterns, Ralph Lauren has become a reference in fashion, establishing a British style that is asserted and appreciated.

EMBLEMATIC CITY

For your online fabric store, the "dark academia" spirit means poetic, warm and nostalgic materials. We imagine ourselves in an English city, wearing tweed or plain wool coats, cloth around the neck.

A universe that we could not imagine without the talented @grisette. Encouraged by her dreamy and magical style, we thought of this selection of AUTUMN IN SCOTLAND fabrics... And to present it to you, @grisette went to Edinburgh!

The capital of Scotland, Edinburgh is a city with a fabulous history and character. As if split in two, it includes a medieval old town and a Georgian-style new town.

A retro atmosphere that allowed us to select fabrics that blend into the decor: fluffy wool, bright Prince of Wales or even a more whimsical fabric that will give couture ideas a proud look

But that's not all! Fact to know about this city: it hosts the Crown Jewels of Scotland and the Stone of Destiny which is used during the coronation of the monarchs of this country. How can you not feel special when you travel there? That's why this place inspired us to select noble, warm and historic fabrics, perfect for sewing fall outfits.

For us, this DROP represents a warm moment in a tea room, an afternoon spent in an old library wearing a tweed dress, a powerful and misty walk in the city wrapped in a wool cape; @griisette paid tribute to our vision, she sewed with our fabrics beautiful creations :
