We invite you on this journey, to discover the Cotton and its weavings...
COTTON OTTOMAN
"Ottoman" means "originating in Turkey". The Ottoman fabric is a silk fabric with large ribs which, as its name suggests, was created in Turkey in the thirteenth century. It was at that time reserved for the use of sultans.
Today, the Ottoman fabric exists in wool, viscose, linen or cotton, and has the particularity to be solid and pleasant to the touch. The surface of the Ottoman fabric is punctuated by a succession of slight ribs which are the result of a particular weaving called "fluted weave" (large number of warp threads and less important number of large weft threads).
Traditionally used for furniture, it lends itself very well to clothing, and particularly to the realization of dresses for special occasions (procession dress, bridesmaid dress), or for the creation of tunics, jackets or skirts. It's up to you!
Solidity, flexibility and opacity are the main qualities of this textile. Want to discover more? You can find here our Cotton Ottoman fabric with a delicate watercolor floral pattern. An ideal fabric to sew timeless and comfortable pieces!
COTTON SATIN
The Cotton satin is a versatile, comfortable and light fabric, often used in clothing or linens. Soft and silky, it is a bright and beautiful fabric!
More robust and durable than traditional cotton, it wrinkles less.
Unlike a conventional cotton canvas, the cotton satin is composed of more numerous and finer threads (about 60 warp threads and 60 weft threads per m² against 40 for a canvas): impressive, isn't it? This density gives it flexibility, resistance and a light satin finish.
Easy to care for, the cotton satin is also hypoallergenic, does not warp and never pills. Practical, isn't it?
Thus, our Cotton Satins Giotto and Canalettoall three printed with beautiful floral patterns will be suitable for all types of creations: unisex shirts, blouses, tunics.
COTTON CHAMBRAY
Finally, Cotton Chambray is woven in the same way as a traditional canvas, but its threads are of two different colors.
Generally, its warp threads are blue, while the weft threads are white. This particular weave gives a textured and mottled look to the fabric, sometimes resembling a Denim fabric (and can even replace it!)
Chambray fabric can be sewn in the same way as a cotton canvas, and therefore has many uses. Dresses, straight skirts, jackets or even chino pants, Chambray is breathable, comfortable to wear, and comes in many colors, densities and fibers.
